THE BRIDGE - WHEEL POSE

Found this excellent resource on one of my favorite poses. The Bridge Pose along with Gate / Firefly and The Bird are in my favorite top to asnas ever.

The Bridge Pose is one pose that challenges me all the time. How to learn it and what I get out of it. It is a Chakra Asana pose and most people find it difficult to do or are afraid to do it.

There is a scale of difficulty for all Yoga Based Asanas.

The scale goes from 1 - 8 (1 being the easiest to do (Mountain Pose.) as opposed to Bird Pose which has a difficulty level of 7 on the scale of difficulty. The Wheel Pose sits on 8 on the scale and is considered one of the harder asanas to do. In saying this the lower option (Bridge Pose.) has a difficulty level of 3 and would be the easiest asana option for this pose.

Many people often think that they can do a level 8 pose up front. Well that may be true for some people who are trained in gymnastics, but for the average street goer who comes to class 3 times a week it takes time to master the Level 8 variation of the pose.

Understanding how to get to a level 8 pose takes some time and alot of study and not ebing afraid to do the impossible at some time. It took me 2 years to be able to master The Bridge Pose and to get confident in my exploration of the pose. I was challenged recently in Bodybalance to find the courage to do the pose and explore the level 8 commitment in myself to do this pose.
